Bayer Leverkusen VS Dortmund: Bundesliga Match Preview & Prediction
Source It's weekend and we're set for another mouthwatering fixtures across European leagues. Today, I'm gonna be taking a shot at the match between Bayer Leverkusen and Burussia Dortmund. Recent trends in the Bundesliga have piqued my interest and I have been keeping my ears on the ground to see what unfolds. Yes, Bayern Munich may be topping the league currently, but I can tell you they had to fight their way to the top unlike what we've been used to in past seasons. In fact, a closer look at the margin by which they are leading the race, one can see that the league is as open as hell, and either Leipzig or the highflying Burussia Dortmund can ruffle few feathers. The Bavaria club is leading the log with just one point, as second place Leipzig are maintaining a close chase on the league leaders. Dortmund are currently sitting on the third position with 39 points, and a win over Leverkusen today can see them tie with Bayern at the top, that is, if Bayern and Leipzig slips in their games. I'm enjoying the German league currently and I like the tension which the league have lacked for some time now. Let's take a look at the game coming up today between Leverkusen and Dortmund. To think this encounter will be a walk in the park for Dortmund will be self deceit. Playing away to a team that is coming off a win is not always easy. Source You will recall that Bayer Leverkusen defeated Stuttgart 2-1 in their last game which saw them qualify to the next round of the DFB Pokal, the same competition that Burussia Dortmund got knocked out by Bremen in a game that ended 3-2. Also, Leverkusen is going into this game for fun, they are currently sitting fifth on the league table and I don't see them leaving any stone unturned in order to book a spot in the UEFA champions league. Their last win against Stuttgart will be a morale booster against Dortmund and as the home team, they're going into the clash fired up by the cheers of their home fans. At the other end is a Dortmund said, roaring into the game like a wounded lion after being knocked out of the DFB pokal by Bremen in their last match. They have their traveling fans to pacify, they have Bayern Munich to topple and take over the lead on the league table, and to crown it all, they've got PSG to intimidate ahead of their Champions league encounter in no distant time. With all this factors at stake, Dortmund can afford not to win today's match, even with Marco Reus not in the lineup. With the fire breathing goal dragon Haaland, complemented by Sancho, Dortmunds attack will go into this game ready to devour the home side. I definitely not see them losing today's game, even though it's not gonna be smooth ride. But then, it's football and you're mostly gonna get surprised. My Prediction: Leverkusen 1-3 Dortmund
