I Almost Quit Football- Patrick Van Aanholt
Patrick Van Aanholt exposes how Chelsea almost make him quit football. The Dutch international footballer who is currently playing for Crystal Palace started his football career at Den Bosch and proceed to PSV U17 in 2005 on a free transfer. After spending two season there caught the attention of Chelsea Football Club in 2007 and was sign to the Blues U18 at a fee worth of £270k but after signing for the Blues, he has find it very difficult to made it through to the senior team and has always be a victim of loan. He started his loan journey in 2009 by joining Conventry and in December 2008, he returned back to Chelsea. In January 2010, he was also loaned to Newcastle where he didn't spend much time and returned back to his parent club February 2010. He didn't stop there, in January 2011, he was loaned to Leicester city and in May he returned to Chelsea 3 months later, he was at Wigan on another loan spell and in January 6 2012, he returned back again to Chelsea and finally January 16, 2012 he was loaned out to Vitesse and at the end of June 2014, he was back to Chelsea and when another transfer window open, he join Sunderland Football Club at a fee worth of £1.71m. In January 2017 he move from Sunderland to Crystal Palace at a fee around £9.45m. He only made two appearances for Chelsea in 09/10 season and as a substitute. The right back player is now a regular starter for crystal Palace and has already won 9 caps for his national team. Within 2009 to 2012, he was loaned to five different clubs within three seasons before finally got his deal. It will always be the joy of every player rising through Chelsea junior team to play for the Blue Army but if there is any team well known for loaning player out, Chelsea is well known for that and to my own perspective, the system is really discouraging upcoming players. One of the worst loans of my life,” Van Aanholt said of his Wigan loan It was partly the manager, but a little bit me. “Obviously when you go on loan from Chelsea you expect to play. “I was really thinking about quitting football. I was that upset, I wanted to stop. “I went on holiday with my missus at the time and said, ‘What am I going to do now? No club is going to want me because I haven’t played for a year’. This season now, he has been a regular starter for Crystal Palace and doing greatly well. Note: All images are google related.
