Chelsea breeze past into the F.A Cup final after their emphatic win against a sloppy, error-prone Manchester United!
Chelsea saw off Manchester United at Wembley to set up a North London derby a F.A cup final against Arsenal. Two David De Gea howlers, pretty average defending and sloppy possession lost it for Manchester United, a trophy which would've meant a lot to a young United team. Chelsea on the other hand had a perfect game, their man to man markings for Williams, Bissaka, Fred, Matic meant Manchester United could not get the ball out of their own half, they never looked confident in their passing or possession. A perfect well knit plan put into place by Lampard and two huge errors by David helped Chelsea in a comfortable 3-1 win. A quadruple of losses avoided by Lampard with a deserving win. Talking Points! Error Prone David! Not one but two errors from The Spaniard gifted Chelsea the victory. David had worked his way from being a mediocre keeper to the best in the world, but a downward spiral has hit him hard, his errors are costing huge points or matches to Manchester United. His inability to stop the Giroud first goal can be understood as it was just too close to him, but the second goal was what made Chelsea very comfortable and an ardent road for United. He made quite decent 2-3 saves, but the match was decided before. What does the future hold for him ? Is it the time to bring on Dean Henderson and make it competition for places ? The questions are mounting and the time is ticking for David De Gea. Ole got it wrong in the Lineup and lack of depth! The 3-5-2 lineup has clearly worked for United in the big games, but given the recent form in 4-2-3-1, I think Ole clearly made a huge mistake there. The need to rotate is clear given the amount of games ahead, but in a must win game, it would've been better if United started solid and then rotate. It seemed we started off with the intention of not conceding a goal for 45-60 mins and then bring in the powerhouses of Pogba and Martial in. But after 2-0 it became pretty late. Bruno was the only player who again played brilliantly, but the marking on him cut him off, as it became very clear who makes United tick efficiently. The lack of depth became clearly visible as James was below par, Fred had an OK game, Bailly looked sharp and then the Injury cut him off, the good options on the bench are not many and it seems Ole does not trust his options too much. Adding at least 3-4 good players is a must for United this summer, because as the games come in thick and fast, the need to rotate is quite obvious. Lack of Preparation time! Stating this option would make it look like we're looking for options to lash out after the defeat, but again Chelsea had extra 48 hours to re-energize, rest a bit more, strategize more and the result was quite visible. Chelsea players looked very sharp, it seemed they had a very clear cut plan and it was executed perfectly, nothing to take away from them. But the scheduling of matches needs to be a bit more considerate, you cannot expect teams to play every 48 hours and with that intensity injuries are just around the corner. What's next! Manchester United face West Ham in match day 37 of the English Premier League. Leicester lost 3-0 to Spurs, which means they are equal in points and in goal difference to United. A win would take us straight at 3rd spot, and if Chelsea drew or lost to Liverpool, United would stay 3rd. Only if United and Chelsea both win, United would be 4th and Chelsea 3rd. A must win game, no excuses or complacency here and United would most probably book the champions league spot. Until then Stay Safe! Stay Tuned! Cheers!
