Lille end PSG Monopoly to win French League
Lille beat Angers 2-1 to win the French Ligue 1 for second time in a decade pipping closest rivals and defending champions Paris Saint Germain. The champions went to the last game of a thrilling Ligue 1 final day with a cushion of just one point above PSG who won the league for a staggering seven times out of last eight seasons. Lille held on to register a narrow away victory against Angers who finished 13 with two first half goals before conceding a late consolation goal in the injury time of the game. Jonathan David put the leaders in front early and in form Turkish forward Burak Yilmaz extended the lead from penalty spot in the stoppage time of the first half. Lille was in a comfortable position to win the league until Avengers made a late attempt to comeback to the game with Angelo Fulgini scoring in the injury time. But Christophe Galtier's side hung on to the victory and ensured that PSG will end the campaign only as second best to them. PSG defeated Brest 2-0 to ensure the Champions League football ahead of Monaco who sealed the remaining place for the same. Lyon who could have reached the top three with a win, were shocked by Nice and will play in the Europa League.
