How Manchester United went about their business against Aston Villa at Villa park! My 3-0 score prediction was bang on!
A controversial penalty converted by Bruno Fernandes, a belter from the young genius Mason Greenwood, and a perfectly worked on training ground corner kick, converted beautifully from out of the box by Pogba set up United for yet another impressive victory. With this win Manchester United made history, by becoming the first team in Premier League history to win by 3 goals or more in 4 consecutive games. Yes, you read that correctly. Not Liverpool this year, not the famous 07/08 Manchester United, not Manchester City who score 4-5 goals for fun has been able to achieve what Ole and his men have done. Manchester United are in different vein right now. They are keeping clean sheets, scoring loads of goals, having fun, the players are happy and focused. This team looks like they all have a common goal since they have returned from the lock-down break and that is to steal a Champions league spot. Before talking about this game I'll throw in some stats about Mason Greenwood : Mason Greenwood have had 21 shots with his left foot and converted 7 of them that is 33.33% shot accuracy. With his Right foot the so called weaker foot, he has 20% conversion rate. Now, Zlatan Ibrahimovic one of the most prolific strikers in Europe, at MUFC with both feet had a conversion rate of 12% . So, technically Mason Greenwood's weaker foot is stronger than Zlatan's both feet. I'll let it sink in for you'll and let you know the kid is just 18 years old. Match Summary : With this 3-0 against Villa, Manchester United has now scored 15 goals since the restart and conceded just 3. It all started with a controversial free kick awarded to Bruno Fernandes, given by John Moss later checked in by VAR, and as VAR did not find a valid reason to overrule the decision, the on field decision was considered. The Portuguese was quick with his feet and tried to do a Zidane turn or roulette, when the defender sticks his leg out to block, as Bruno had his back towards the defender he landed on his leg and was seen as infringement by the ref. It was a tough call though. The second goal was a brilliant counter attack, when Anthony Martial, took the ball from the half line and gave it to Mason on the right wing, another pass to Martial as he again gave it back to Mason and he buried the ball into the net. The pace these front three possess is brilliant to watch, and we can expect many more goals like these in the future. The third was a cherry on top, as it gave yet another glimpse of a Fernandes-Pogba linkup goal, and what they might have in store for next season as the players get settled in completely. A direct pass from the corner to Pogba, who was lurking around the penalty box, who took two touches and placed the ball perfectly in the bottom right corner. Everything was inch perfect leading to the goal, and it can be argued that Grealish should've tackled and the space awarded to Pogba was a little too much, but again the vision of the Portuguese and the shot from the Frenchman was a piece of magic. The defenders were never really tested, just the first 15-20 mins, Villa really pressed well, they even had a shot at the post. United were really lucky to not have conceded from it, but after the second goal and the whole of second half United were on top. David had just one shot straight at him without any real sting to it. Maguire and Lindelof did pretty well and so did the wing backs. Matic was again prolific with 92.6% pass accuracy, he has really earned his new contract. Pogba is enjoying his new role, sitting deeper, feeding in those amazing long balls, he had 90.9% pass accuracy and 11/11 long balls completion rate. With 1 goal after quite a while, Pogba now has 11 goals and 9 assists for Ole in 33 matches played. Proving yet again why he's so important. Bruno again chipped in with 1 goal and 1 assist, nothing new for The Magnificio, enjoying his time, and constantly evolving with the team.He also missed a clear header just a few minuted after the penalty, showing he's only human. He's now the only player after Cristiano Ronaldo, to have won 2 back to back PL player of the month awards. The front 3 were brilliant again, with Martial playing so much in the mix, making runs, making tackles, winning the ball, and was unlucky twice, once he hit the post ferociously and the second time he was denied by a brilliant tackle by the opposition defender. Mason converted his chance really well, and Marcus too had some great runs into the box. It was yet another complete performance by Ole and his men against the type of sides we have struggled as a team. The lack of creativity against low block has cost us many points since the SAF era, but things are getting back to how it used to be in the old days. We should be winning these games quite comfortably and now we are doing exactly that. It is a different Manchester United we are witnessing and Ole is definitely at the Wheel ! Stay tuned for pre-match and post match reviews! Stay Safe! Cheers!
