Real Madrid midfielder would ‘pay out of his own pocket’ to play for Barcelona
Since Javier Saviola signed for Real Madrid from Barcelona in 2007, no player has crossed the divide between the two arch-rivals. But that could potentially change in the summer next year if a report from Catalan outlet El Nacional is to be believed. As per the report, Real Madrid midfielder Isco, who finds himself out of favour at the club, is angling for an exit next summer and would be very much open to joining bitter rivals Barcelona. In fact, he would be ready to pay out of his own pocket to help the move through. Signed from Malaga back in 2013, Isco enjoyed great success in his early years at Real Madrid. However, his standing within the squad has gradually reduced in recent years, with the 29-year-old pretty much becoming an afterthought under previous manager Zinedine Zidane, while Carlo Ancelotti has not shown much inclination towards using him either. The report states that Isco, who is in the final year of his contract, has grown frustrated and angry over his treatment at the Spanish capital club. Furthermore, it is claimed that he is upset over leaks of false news of his poor relationship with some of his teammates. The 2012 Golden Boy Award winner has made up his mind to leave the Bernabeu when his deal runs out and is claimed to be pushing for a move to Barcelona. According to the report, Isco is a boyhood Barca fan and supported the club ardently, until the chance to sign for Real Madrid came about in 2013. As for Real Madrid, they are unsure over offering Isco an extension. There is a belief that the 29-year-old is past is prime and will not reach the heights of his early days at the club. However, Samuel Eto’o success at Barcelona after having failed at the Bernabeu is something that continues to play on president Florentino Perez’s mind. As things stand, there is no indication that Barcelona are interested in signing Isco. However, the Spaniard himself appears keen on a switch to Camp Nou. Any move, however, would likely rely on him getting minutes on the field and proving himself worthy of a contract with the Catalan giants.
