Djed Spence threw Southampton left side into trance
Ange Postecoglou finally gave chance to Djed Spance to start match and this player literally threw Southampton's left side into trance for full 15 minutes. It took about 36 seconds for Djed to make fantastic assistance through legs of Southampton player toward Maddison who scored goal for 1:0 for Spurs. This action set up further flow of the game. Djed did some nice dribbling and after one of them ball came toward Son, who missed ball completely. Spence literally threw that entire side into trance and was completely unplayable! Then Udogie got injured and Pedro Porro came in and Djed was forced to go on left side where he was ok, but not that spectacular like on his main position which is right back. In 15. minute it was already 3:0 Son and Kulusevski scored goals. Sarr scored 4th in very nice way and Maddison 5th in last seconds of first half. That was also spectacular goal. It's wonder how he catch that fast ball, he controlled it well and fired up into top corner of away post near crossbar! It was awesome "firecracker" (5 in the net) in first half. I know it was just Southampton last club on the table, but I was hungry for win like Kulusevski! Other player who got chance was Bergvall. He started instead of Bissouma and he had good stats, but didn't pass my "eye test" on the pitch. He didn't convince me he's ready for playing Premier League against stronger sides on regular basis. Finally Fraser Forster didn't have too much job on goal line, but yet again he saved everything which went his way. He deserved to have some clean sheets like today for all he has done in last couple of days! Son became club's the best assistant today overtaking place of Tottenham legend from 90ies Darren Anderton. If I remember correctly he has now 68 passes leading to goals, but his performance was not that impressive at least when it comes to finishing. He scored one goal, but had 4 or 5 chances and all other were shots into goalkeeper and once when Djed Spence found him inside the box he missed ball completely. On the other side he setup fifth goal with pass toward Maddison inside the box. He need to sort himself out before next opponents because we will need him badly against Manchester United and Liverpool. One who was not good was Pedro Porro. He was unable to defend against already defeated Southampton, he swam at least 3-4 times on his side, there was big chance after cross on Southampton's left side in first half. Ex Spurs player KWP who isn't anything special threw him into trance. One shot went through his legs wide of goal, he went in emptiness in another situation, lost ball in dangerous area. He convinced me he shouldn't be starting right back in this moment in time! At least he didn't make sick short back pass toward goalkeeper endangering his life or some dangerous high ball backward like he did in Glasgow. I don't know what is happening with this player, but he is badly out of form and can't defend against worst team in the league! Shocking! Maybe his head is in clouds and he thinks he's Real Madrid player ? With performances like this he will never be that! Ange Postenoclue didn't put natural left back Regullion on the bench for this match! Imagine you have fast natural left back with Premier League experience in the squad and you are forcing superb right back Djed Spence to play on left and bring out of form Porro in ? Imagine you didn't register Djed for Europa League at all ?! That was not serious! What he did good is to give young players opportunity to play so we saw Dorrington on left back and Lankshear on striker position. Boys got much needed minutes in Premier League. That's the only way to find out if they are ready for Premier League football or not! Congratulations to all involved and let's hope those players can play good match against Manchester United in League Cup in couple of days. I doubt they can, but I thought they will struggle today too didn't I ? :) Let's wait and see maybe they surprise me again in good way. For the end I want to point out on away fans who chanted anti-Levy song "All I care about is Kulusevski". They chanted it even after goals showing that patience with greedy ,bad, serial loser owner who doesn't care about football is over! It was about time after 24 or 25 years without serious trophies and after deliberately doing circus job during the summer! I can only congratulate them and join them in that effort. By the way that song had 265k views after few days and 87% of 2k fans said in pool they wouldn't have anything against anti-Levy songs during games on regular basis! I read balloons Levy Out are ready for next home games too! Well done! This great club deserves better ownership who will operate like real big top 6 clubs do!
