I often like to have a bet after the first round of golf tournaments. I like to back a top player, who has gotten off to a bad start, or a player who is a few shots back, but is playing well, and the putts just aren't sinking on day 1.

So, I took a look at the Tour Championship leader board on one screen and Paddypower's odds for the golf tournament on another, and decided what the bet would be for the Tour Championship over the weekend.

Tommy's the man!!

For me the man who stood out, based on potential and value, was England's Tommy Fleetwood.

Tommy is 33/1 and he is only 4 shots back, and there are 54 holes of golf still to be played. He carded a 1 under par 69 yesterday, but that included 4 bogies. If he can clean up that aspect, and grind out the pars, sprinkled with 4 or 5 birdies over the next few days, then he is in with a shout.

The thing with Tommy is he often shoots one superb round in the low 60s, so if can manage to do that around the East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, then he has a great shout of a top 4 finish.

So, my bet is.....

I've opted for an each way bet on Tommy at 33/1

The stake is small, just going for €4 e/w

Potential Return (inc stake)

If Tommy wins --> €173

If Tommy finishes 2nd,3rd or 4th --> €37
