New Zealands highest earning sportsman is Steve Williams. Tiger Wood's caddie. Caddies normally get around 10% of a golfers earnings which has earned Steve in the region of $20 million over the years of caddying. Not a bad career. Sometimes golfers have the same caddy for life. Others go through caddies quite a bit. News this week that a golfer who won 3 million dollars in Mayakoba golf classic Mexico only paid his caddie $3,000. Tom Gilis, a former PGA pro, exposed the story on Twitter.

Once some research was done it emerged that the golfer in question is Matt Kucher who won the Mexican Classic in the Autumn. His normal caddie was on holidays so he asked a local Mexican club caddy named David Giral Ortiz if he would caddy for him recommended by the course director. Ortiz agreed. Kucher won and paid him $3,000 for his services. Now if Kuchers normal caddy was with him he would have been paid $30,000 for the tournament win. And that would be the very least.

When the story broke it went viral and quite alot of people were not happy with the golfer who is worth $47 million was so stingy down in Mexico. The golf channel asked him about it in which Kucher replied

that it wasn't $3,000 and it was a "It is not a story".

Tom Gilis asked the caddy if the $3,000 was the payment. The caddy then said he received $5,000. Better but still not an adequate payment.

Kucher is not the only player to be a bit stingy with the cash. Tiger Woods is famous for being a really bad tipper and just an all round stingy person. He once took a bunch of navy seals out for dinner and when the bill came down Tiger split it. This guy is worth 900 million and asks them to dinner and they end up paying. Phil Mickelson on the other hand has 10k in his wallet at all times for tipping so no wonder he is loved where ever he goes. Now that is indeed the other end of the spectrum . I am from Europe so tipping is no big deal here but I hear it is sac-religious not to tip in the states. Aside from the tipping debate I do think Kucher should have paid the caddy more. Even 10k would have been OK in my opinion.

It later came out that Kooch is notoriously stingy but more stories will emerge once this gathers dust.

Eager to hear your tight friend comments. I have one tight friend and he nearly isn't my friend over some of his deeds. But most of the time he isn't aware he is being tight. it is just inbred. Maybe Kooch is like this.
