A Thai golfer, Ariya Jutanugarn, won the major major golf tournament, the US Open, after defeating South Korean golfer Kim Hyo-joo, in a playoff he collected the second major tournament title.
With the results of his victory, Ariya became one of the first Thai golfers to successfully win the US Open championship. He did it by printing par in the fourth additional hole in the playoff at Shoal Creek. Playoffs were made after a normal round he shared a leadership position with Kim with a total of 277 strokes or 11 under par.
The 22-year-old golfer said he had been hit by a triple bogey in the 10th par four. At that time, the ball from his punch went into hazard, but he was finally able to ensure his second chance through the playoffs.
