1968 Olympic Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament Recap

On Saturday, February 17th, 1968, the Soviet Union defeated Czechoslovakia by one point in the final standings to win the 11th gold medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey history. It was the third gold medal for the Soviet Union in Olympic men’s ice hockey. Czechoslovakia took the silver medal with 11 points in the standings, claiming their second silver medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey. Canada defeated Sweden by one point in the standings, grabbing their second bronze medal in Olympic men’s ice hockey.

The tournament was held in France, with Grenoble as the host city. Anatoly Firsov of the Soviet Union scored the most goals during the tournament with 12. Anton Joze Gale of Yugoslavia led goaltenders in save percentage at .938.
