There are different styles in Kung Fu, speaking correctly in Wu shu; those styles born under the principal Shaolin Kung Fu and each family that used made up different styles giving to the world well known styles of combats, which are: Boxing of the North (Chang Chuen), Palm of the 8 trigrams (Pa Kua Chan) and boxing of the south (Nan Quan).

Chang Chuan

It is the boxing style of North China, (the pretty part of China back then) consisting mainly of very acrobatic movements, where the characteristic that defines this style is the composition of strength moves with acrobatic jumps, linked to positions where the balance defines everything. Is like parkour with some punchs added, pretty cool actually maybe that why I loved this style and why I still workout so hard every day.

In this style we can see imaginary combats with empty hands, saber, straight sword, spear, long stick, among others, I have to say that each weapons is learned according to the level of the student, I learned Long Stick and barely can use my sword, isn't easy guys. The amount of strength you need to hold that sword and move it from one side to another making low moves with balance related is huge.

Pa Kua Chang

It's suposed to be the boxing style of the central zone of China from the wudang temple. This is one of the most complicated styles to learn, because it is done on an imaginary octogram, like dancing. Yes you will be moving around circles while you make some bad ass kung fu movements. You can also make it without the octagram but your level of training has to be high. And plus it's prettier with the octagram.

The circular walk is used to move around the opponent, using counter turns, keeping the weight most of the time in the back leg, while the hands move in specific patterns. This style use weapons such as the straight sword, saber, long stick, half moons, and other cool weapons.

Nan Chuan

It's the style of boxing in the south of China, consisting mainly of high impact movements and quite strongly in low positions. It is the opposite of Chang chuan, it focuses purely on strength, although it has some acrobatics, its focus is to maximize the body with every punch, kick and movement. In this style we make as in the Chan chuan, schemes with empty hand, saber, long stick, spear, among others.
