Most people usually punch in a fight. If the attacker knows how to kick and is good at kicking, he will definitely kick. When someone kicks you, he can hit you from the long distance. You want to punch the attacker, but you do not even get the chance. As soon as you move forward to punch, the attacker already kicks you.

If the attacker does low kick, you can raise your leg to defend that. As soon as you see the kick coming, you can kick the attacker's leg to stop him. You can also step back to move out of the kicking range as a defense.
When the attacker does a roundhouse kick, you can block that doing palm slap parry or out side parry. You can put the attacker in a vulnerable position by grabbing his leg while dong roundhouse kick. After grabbing the attacker's leg, you can attack him instantly or sweep his leg and make him fall on the ground.
How to grab the attacker's leg while kicking

If someone kicks you and you grab his leg like that you watched in the above video, you can still get hurt. The attacker can attack hard with speed and power. When someone does roundhouse kick, he means to hurt you.
If you just grab the attacker's leg without getting hit, firs to all, block the kick and then grab the legs. If you have the condition, you can take the hit. Still, defend yourself first by doing parry and then grab the attacker's leg.
