On the other day, someone DM me a funny video. I have never thought I'd talk about it here. It is about fighting. It's interesting. Since I usually talk about martial arts and how you can defend yourself in real life, I can share my opinions about that. Here's the link of the video.

You can watch this video clicking above. In this video, you see two boys are fighting. And another boy is doing a flying kick. One of the boys who is fighting grabs his leg and throws him in another direction.

We usually watch different fancy kicks on movies. Honestly speaking, it looks good. The hero is flying and doing kick. And the bad guys get hit and fall down. We watch movies and it's entertaining. When the producers make movies, they think what audience like. The main focus is on entertainment. If some movies are made to show the reality or based on history, that's exceptional.

When you fight in a fighting competition, your target is to win and be the champion. So you will do everything following the rules to win the fight. If we talk about self defense, you do not want to impress others when you fight. Someone attacks you and all you want to do is to defend yourself. You will never think of doing something fancy in this situation.

So is flying kick useful for self defense?

Well, if there is a situation like that, there is an obstacle below and flying kick is the way to hit the attacker, you can do flying kicks. But most of the time, that's not the case. You can do different kicks to attack and defend yourself.

When you do flying kick, it seems that's so powerful to knock out the opponent. The opponent can make his move and defend that. The opponent can grab your leg and move you in another direction. When you fall down on the ground, the attacker will get a chance to attack you more.

Instead of doing flying kicks, you can do many things that are more effective in a street fight for self defense. I have made a post recently and talked about some basic kicks. If you have not read that post, you can read the post to learn more.

When your life is in danger, you do not like to do something funny. That's a serious thing. If you like martial arts and want to learn more about self defense, you can check out some of my recent posts.
