Arnis is both national sports ans martial arts in the Philippines. It has been a tradition of Filipino people since the time of Lapu-lapu, a Philippine hero who manage to fight against the evading Spaniards using bladed weapons with their abilities in arnis martial arts.

This kind of martial arts focuses by striking, thrusting and some parrying for both its defense and offense. It does need some discipline and focus while mastering with accuracy, speed and skills.

Arnis is mainly for defensive where it involves more in a hand-to-hand combat, grappling and some disarming techniques. Weapons like sticks or bladed weapons are also possible with this martial arts.

With the support of many people and organization, it has been an official national sport in the Philippines on year 2010. Aside from Philippines, this type of martial arts are being practiced by many countries.

Even today, arnis martial arts are still teaching college students in the art of self defense and also to process in which it can be passed from generation to next generation so culture will still be preserved.

Arnis is already being included in Southeast Asian Games SEA Games which are being represented by countries : Belgium, United States, Brazil, India, China, Hong Kong, Jordan, Canada, Turkey and the Philippines.
