Through generations of iconic Major League Baseball moments, we’ve seen legendary teams put their greatest gifts out in the field for us spectators to marvel at. With the 2019 Major League Baseball playoffs just around the corner, let’s take a look back at some of the greatest MLB teams assembled & be considered as one of the best teams in baseball history.

1927 New York Yankees

Nicknamed "Murderers' Row," the 1927 New York Yankees considered to be the all-time MLB team was led by legend Babe Ruth who hit 60 home runs that season which helped lead the Yankees to a record of 110-44. Babe Ruth homered more than 12 teams in the league that year & which included their World Series opponent the Pittsburgh Pirates which had 54 in total. Murderers’ Row also featured Lou Gehrig who had 47 home runs & 42 doubles that season to help bring the Yankees to the World Series championship in four games.

1998 New York Yankees

Featuring “The Captain” Derek Jeter, the 1998 New York Yankees won 114 regular season games to achieve a new American League record. Managed by Joe Torre, the team featured stars & future hall of famers Mariano Rivera, David Cone, Bernie Williams, Paul O’Neil & more. The Yankees took home their twenty-fourth World Series championship by sweeping the San Diego Padres in four games. The team was well balanced with only twenty-five players in rotation and had a combination of your & experience to dominate the league with lights out pitcher – Mariano Rivera.

1975 Cincinnati Reds

The Big Red Machine despite previous successes brought the city its first championship since 1940. The team featured hall of famers Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, and Johnny Bench to battle & win the World Series against the Boston Red Sox in seven thrilling games. The Reds won a franchise high 108 games in the season and had won their division by twenty games over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Joe Morgan was awarded the National League MVP that year after posting 0.466 on-base percentage / 0.508 slugging percentage and stealing sixty seven bases. The all-time MLB team hall of famer definitely has a legacy unlike any other.

1906 Chicago Cubs

Despite starting with a 6-6 record, the 1906 Chicago Cubs ended the season with 116 games won and have a .763 winning percentage that season. This team brought in the first World Series win for the franchise by beating cross-town rivals The Chicago White Sox who were dubbed the hitless wonders. The team finished the season with a 50-8 record & win the National League by twenty games led by pitcher Mordechai Brown, shortstop Joe Tinker, basemen Johnny Evers & Frank Chance.
