The National Baseball Reporters Association (BBWAA) announced the results of the 2022 MLB Hall of Fame voting on the 26th.As a result,Ortiz obtained 307 votes out of 397 votes, and received 77.9% of the votes, exceeding the 75% required to enter the Hall of Fame.

Ortiz, who played about 20 seasons in the major leagues, played in 2,408 games and posted 541 home runs, 1,768 RBIs and a batting average of 0.286.Ortiz won the World Series in 2004,2007 and 2013 with the Boston Red Sox.In 2013,he was named World Series MVP and went on to become a ten-time All-Star, seven-time Silver Slugger, and an American League Home Run Champion.

Meanwhile,Ortiz was embroiled in controversy over taking banned substances in 2003,but when it succeeded in entering the Hall of Fame, local media raised questions.Unlike Ortiz, Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens,who had similar histories,such as purchasing banned substances,failed to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.Bonds,who holds the record for most home runs in the Major Leagues, and Clemens, who won the Cy Young 7 times, received 66% and 65.2% of the votes, respectively, and their last chance to enter the Hall of Fame was thwarted.

Following Bones and Clemens,curt Schilling and Sammy Sosa were also frustrated to enter the Hall of Fame,their last challenge.Alex Rodriguez was also nominated for the Hall of Fame this year, after a controversy over drug use in 2013, but only received 34.3% of the vote.
