The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds had a scuffle in which eight players were sent off.

Pittsburgh won the 2019 Major League Baseball game against the Cincinnati Reds 11-4 at Crate American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio.

A total of eight players, including coaches and players, were sent off, with a series of referee protests, threatening pitches and scuffles going on the day.

David Bell, who was protesting against the ruling during Cincinnati's Yasiel Puig at bat in the bottom of the eighth inning, was sent off.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Jared Hughes of Cincinnati was ejected for throwing a hit ball at Staling Marte, and then bench coach freddie Benavides of Cincinnati, who was protesting strongly, was ordered to leave.

A scuffle ensued when Cincinnati Amir Garnett, who took the mound, rushed toward the Pittsburgh dugout on continued jeering. In the process, Yasiel Puig and a number of other players were sent off.

Puig was to be traded to Cleveland after the game. Puig wore a Cincinnati uniform and left a record of being sent off in the final game.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh escaped from a nine-game losing streak with an 11-4 win. Pittsburgh was at the bottom of the National League Central Division with 47 wins and 60 losses. Kang Jung-ho, was absent from the game.
