There was no need to worry about running base.The Pittsburgh Pirates prospect went on a home run march in the major league debut.

Rodolfo Castro of Pittsburgh made his big league debut on April 22 against the Detroit Tigers.The result was no hits in three at-bats.

His first hit came in his fourth major league game.Castro hit a solo home run in the 7th inning, losing 2-12 against the New York Mets on the 10th, making his debut hit a home run.

It is not uncommon for his debut first hit to become a home run. But for Castro, it was the beginning of history.

Two days later, Castro recorded a multi-hit. All batted balls went over the fence.

After being silent,Castro briefly went down to the minor leagues on the 19th and was called back on the 28th.

On the 29th,starting against the Milwaukee Brewers, he played a two-hit game again.The batted ball fell into a place that the fielder could not catch. Castro hit a solo homer in the 7th, losing 0-7, and hit a two-run homer in the 9th.

All five hits since his debut were home runs.His batting average was only 2-1/2 (5 hits in 21 at-bats), but his slugging percentage reached 0.952, giving him an OPS of 1.257.

Castro's home run streak was the first major league record.The Pittsburgh club said,It's the first time in the major leagues that Castro's first five hits were all home runs.
