Ryu Hyun-jin of the Los Angeles Dodgers, has taken a new turn in his attempt to play Cy Young in the National League.

Washington ace Max Scherzer, who was considered Ryu's strongest rival, was finally on the disabled list. The Washington team officially announced that it put the washer on the 10-day disabled list. The injury date for the shutter will be applied retroactively from the 10th on a local time basis. The Washington club said on the same day that Spencer Kiboom, a catcher with double-A Harrisburg, will fill the post instead of Shuster, who is on the IL.

Shouser also complained of occasional back pain in the first half of the year. After seven scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts against the Kansas City Royals (6-0 wins) he felt pain in his back and failed to make it to the All-Star Game, a "star's feast." Instead, he underwent an MRI scan at a hospital, but until then, there were no signs of any abnormalities. Up until two days ago, Scherzer told local media, including in the Washington area, that his back injury was not severe. Scherzer was originally scheduled to make his first start in the second half of the game against Philadelphia on July 15, but he delayed his schedule by two days to show his willingness to start against Baltimore on July 17. However, his back pain showed no signs of improvement, which led him to further delay his first appearance in the second half. According to report predicted that the first scenario in which the washer will take the mound will be against Atlanta on the 21st Some argue that he felt an abnormality in his back after throwing 115 pitches in eight innings against Detroit on July 1, but after six days without a break, he became angry at the Kansas City match.

Scherzer had nine wins and five losses and a 2.30 ERA in 19 games in the first half. Many say Ryu is ahead of Ryu (10 wins, two losses, and a 1.73 ERA), but he is highly rated for his more aggressive pitching than Ryu's 99, with 181 strikeouts and a 1.73 ERA in pitching innings. Shouser's strength can be seen as his pitching and durability, which led him to start the second half of the season with a flaw in durability. The veteran Scherzer, who has already won three Cy Young Awards (2013, 2016 and 2017, has to fight the variables of pain in his back in the second half. Even if the back muscle problem recovers, it can be burdensome because the area is highly likely to recur. There is a possibility that Ryu could catch up with the shutter in durability as well.

It was "health" that was considered the biggest variable in the competition between the two in the second half of the season, as both Ryu and Scherzer performing their best this season. Until the last half of the first half, Ryu's side seemed to have a bigger risk, but the mood changed slightly as Shouser was on the disabled list. Although Ryu is clearly in favor of Ryu, he is not completely free from injury variables either. Ryu, who suffered shoulder injuries until last season, was once on the disabled list with a groin injury earlier this season. Since his return, he has continued his best pitching, but he has been spending the season cautiously as if he were walking on thin ice under intensive care from his training coach Kim Yong-il. It remains to be seen how Ryu will continue his Cy Young Award race in the second half by controlling his injury variables.
