Venezuelan pitcher Germán Márquez entered the Major League record book on Thursday, September 27, when he withdrew the first eight pitchers he faced by way of punch. The opener achieved this mark during the match between his team, the Colorado Rockies and the Phillies of Philadelphia, which took place at Coors Field in Denver and ended with a 14-0 slate in favor of the rocks.

Marquez, a native of San Felix, Bolivar state, had 7 innings, in which he struck out 10 rivals, allowed three hits, granted one ticket. He also broke the record for most punches in a season for a Rockies serpentine.

So far this season he has achieved 14 wins, 10 defeats and accumulated 3.76, the product of 226 punches in the 191.1 innings thrown.

This is the third time in the history of gringo baseball that a pitcher retires the first eight batters via punch. The first was Jim Deshaies, in 1986, and then Jacob de Grom, in 2014.

you have to be careful with this team and this pitcher in the possible wild card game of the national league...
