With less than a week to go until the end of the regular major league season, Ronald Acuña Jr. looks like the favorite to win the National League Rookie of the Year award, according to the MLB.com Writers Association. Members of the select group have been voting throughout the season, giving the Venezuelan a broad advantage in recent weeks over contenders Juan Soto and Walker Buehler. MLB.com reporters gave 34 out of 36 votes to the Atlanta Bravos outfielder, who recorded a total of 176 points, surpassing Soto's 110 and Buehler's 25.

The La Sabana native looks like the old circuit's big favorite, hitting .289 with 25 doubles, 26 home runs, 58 towed runs and 77 scored in 105 games. In addition, he has an OPS of 1,053 with 19 home runs since manager Brian Snitker moved him to the first bat when he finished the Stars Game break. As if that weren't enough, he's the tenth rookie in history to accumulate at least 25 rounds and 15 stolen bases in a season.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Ronald Acuña, Bravos (176 points)

Acuña has 1,053 OPS, with 14 doubles and 19 home runs since manager Brian Snitker put him at first bat after the All-Star Game. In that time, he leads the Majors with 53 runs scored. The eight home runs he has started are a record for the Bravos, and Acuña is the tenth player - and first since Trout - to turn 25 and steal 15 bases in a rookie campaign.

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Shohei Ohtani, Angelinos (154 points)

Ohtani is the first player in MLB history with 20 home runs as batter and 50 punches as pitcher. He needs one more stolen base to join Mike Trout and Devon White as the only rookies with at least 20 home runs and 10 scams in the Angelinos story.
