From my earliest memories, the Boston Red Sox has been in my blood. As a kid, I thought I’d grow up to play for the Sox, naturally. Life did not turn out that way, but I wanted to take a moment to reminisce about one of my favorite Red Sox team eras, 2003 – 2008. This is the era with superstars like Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz (Big Papi). One of the last games I attended of that era team was April 18th, 2008, Puerto Rican Day!

The Red Sox ended the day winning 11-3 over the Texas Rangers, and Big Papi wrapped up with 5 RBIs, it was a great game and we had a great night. The score of the game is not so important now, looking back, but the memories of Fenway Park, that team, they last forever.

Manny Ramirez (LF)

Sitting behind homeplate watching legends like Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz take batting practice was amazing. So close to the players you can hear them joking around with each other. You see players on TV all the time, but in person is a whole different experience, it really is incredible.

My wife Nicole had no interest in baseball when we met. After years of watching with me, she found herself as obsessed as I with the Sox and the game in general. She was really taken back going to a game, touring the park, and getting time up close with some of the players. It was her first trip to Fenway Park, but far from her last.

Fenway Park is the Red Sox stadium in downtown Boston, MA. This has been home to the Sox since 1912. The park is the oldest in the MLB, and though there have been talks over the years to tear it down and rebuild a large new park, the city has never allowed this to occur. Fenway has its own energy, it's an amazing place full of so many stories and so much history. It truly is the heart that Boston is built around.

Underneath the outfield bleachers you can find one of the most unique bars in Boston, The Bleacher Bar. The bar is actually accessible from outside the ballpark, and before the game starts, the garage doors which make up part of the outfield walls are opened up looking onto the field. A must visit before every game.

After every game at Fenway, you can walk to the side of the stadium where the players park their cars. The gates are opened so fans can watch as each player comes out, grabs their car, and drives out. It's pretty cool to see some amazing cars, wave to the players up close, and get photos.

All in all, the 2003-2008 era of the Red Sox is the era I will always remember. From watching the Red Sox almost make their first World Series in 2003, but losing in game 7 of the ALCS to their enemy the NY Yankees. To cheering them on in 2004 where they staged the greatest comeback in sports history against the Yankees in the ALCS by climbing back to win 4 out of 7 games straight to make it to their first World Series since 1918. This team is the team I picture when I look back at the Boston Red Sox.
