On Sunday, October 6th, 1963, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles to win the 60th World Series four games to none. It was the third World Series championship for the Yankees franchise and the first that was won in California. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.
5. #22 Johnny Podres (Dodgers)- P
Podres picked up a win in game two, allowing one earned run with six hits and a walk over the course of eight and a third innings as the Dodgers went on to take the 4-1 win.
4. #3 Willie Davis (Dodgers)- CF
Davis earned player of the game honors in game two, knocking in two RBIs with a run and two hits as the Dodgers won 4-1.
3. #8 John Roseboro (Dodgers)- C
Roseboro was player of the game in game one, taking three RBIs with one run and one hit as the Dodgers grabbed the 5-2 victory.
2. #32 Sandy Koufax (Dodgers)- P
Koufax pitched his way to player of the game in game four, earning a complete game with just one earned run allowed on six hits and no walks as the Dodgers won 2-1 to clinch the series victory.
1. #53 Don Drysdale (Dodgers)- P
Drysdale took game three’s player of the game honors, pitching a complete game shutout while giving up just three hits and one walk as the Dodgers won it 1-0.
