On Tuesday, October 27th, 2020, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas to win the 116th World Series four games to two. It was the seventh (and, as of this writing, most recent) championship for the Dodgers franchise. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series.
5. #13 Max Muncy (Dodgers)- 1B
Muncy earned player of the game in game one on the strength of two RBIs, two runs, two hits and one walk as the Dodgers went on to take an 8-3 victory.
4. #15 Austin Barnes (Dodgers)- C
Barnes scored player of the game in game three, getting two RBIs with one run and one hit to help the Dodgers to a 6-2 win.
3. #7 Julio Urias (Dodgers)- P
Urias was game six’s player of the game as he pitched two and a third innings with no runs allowed to go along with no hits and no walks in the Dodgers’ 3-1 victory to take the series championship.
2. #22 Clayton Kershaw (Dodgers)- P
Kershaw claimed player of the game honors in game five, pitching five and two-thirds innings with two earned runs allowed on five hits and two walks as the Dodgers took a 4-2 win.
1. #8 Brandon Lowe (Rays)- 2B
Lowe picked up player of the game honors in games two and four, getting three RBIs with two runs and a pair of hits in the Rays’ 6-4 victory in game two, followed up with another three-RBI performance along with a run and a hit as the Rays took an 8-7 victory.
