Top 5 Players of the 2018 World Series
By Zane Miller On Sunday, October 28th, 2018, the Boston Red Sox defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles to win the 114th World Series four games to one. It was the ninth World Series championship for the Red Sox franchise, as well as the 12th that was won in California. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series. 5. #41 Chris Sale (Red Sox)- P Sale pitched four innings in game one, allowing three earned runs with five hits and a pair of walks as the Red Sox picked up the 8-4 victory. 4. #21 Walker Buehler (Dodgers)- P Buehler pitched his way to player of the game in game three, going seven innings while allowing no earned runs with two hits and no walks as the Dodgers went on to win it 3-2 in 18 innings, the longest game in World Series history. 3. #36 Eduardo Nunez (Red Sox)- 3B Nunez was game one’s player of the game, hitting three RBIs with a run and a hit in the Red Sox’s 8-4 win. 2. #24 David Price (Red Sox)- P Price earned player of the game honors in game two, giving up two earned runs on three hits and three walks over the course of six innings pitched as the Red Sox won it 4-2. 1. #25 Steve Pearce (Red Sox)- 1B Pearce got player of the game honors in games four and five, as game four saw him knock in four RBIs with two runs, two hits, and a walk in the Red Sox’s 9-6 victory, while in game five he added three RBIs with two runs and two hits as the Red Sox won it 5-1 to earn the series victory. Players of the Game Breakdown: Thank you for joining me on this 115 year-long journey through all of the World Series that have happened so far, and I look forward to continuing this series in October.
