Top 5 Players of the 2019 World Series
By Zane Miller On Wednesday, October 30th, 2019, the Washington Nationals defeated the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park in Houston to win the 115th World Series four games to three. It was the first World Series championship for the Nationals franchise, as well as the third that was won in Texas. It was also the first (and, as of this writing, only) World Series where the home team was unable to win any games during the series. These are the top five players that I felt most stood out during the series. 5. #21 Zack Greinke (Astros)- P Greinke earned player of the game honors in game three, going four and two-thirds innings while allowing just one earned run on seven hits and three walks in the Astros’ 4-1 win. 4. #47 Howie Kendrick (Nationals)- DH Kendrick took player of the game honors in game seven, scoring two RBIs to go along with a run and two hits in the Nationals’ 6-2 win to claim the series title. 3. #13 Asdrubal Cabrera (Nationals)- 2B Cabrera grabbed player of the game honors in game two, getting three RBIs along with one run and two hits to help the Nationals to the 12-3 victory. 2. #22 Juan Soto (Nationals)- LF Soto scored player of the game honors in game one, taking three RBIs with one run and three hits in the Nationals’ 5-4 victory to start off the series. 1. #6 Anthony Rendon (Nationals)- 3B Rendon claimed player of the game in game six, getting five RBIs along with one run, three hits and one walk in the Nationals’ 7-2 win.
