I am excited to see not only the fight itself but also the outcome on the result of this fight (possible Khabib vs Askren if Askren wins). I love to share my prediction on this fight too.

Stylistically, this has the potential to be a puzzle for both camps, Robbie Lawler is not a one dimensional striker and has fought many top notch wrestlers throughout his career. The likes of Johnny Hendricks, Matt Lindland and many others, he came out victorious to a number of them, in fact he's got an insane 94% in takedown defense. And when it comes to a stand up striking he's way more than just having advantage against Ben Askren (Lawler is about 10x better striker than Askren), Ben Askren obviously will at least try to bring Lawler to the ground to get him a chance to win this match.

So for those of you who are thinking this is an easy fight for Ben Askren and that it is just like a welcome fight for him in the UFC are greatly mistaken. Time and again we learned that no one facing Robbie Lawler treats the fight as an easy fight. In fact in the video below, Ben Askren accused Dana White of pitting Robbie Lawler against him because Dana wants him to lose due to the fact that as all people know these guys in a way dislike each other. Ben Askren eventually saying that out of all the top 10 fighters, stylistically, Robbie Lawler is the worst match up for him. Don't get it wrong though, Askren loves the challenge and in fact welcomes the match up for himself.

On the other hand, we have the undefeated MMA champion wrestler who dominated two respectable platforms One FC and Bellator. He did it in a way that it only gave him minimum punishment on his body, he was barely hit in his illustrious career years with both One FC and Belllator. To say that he is undisputed is an understatement, he DOMINATED those tournaments eventually retiring undefeated because there are no more challenges left for him on those platforms.

Ben Askren is also unlike other wrestlers that Robbie Lawler, he sticks to those pure technique and just use the striking to bait or to get close to his opponents. They are so effective because he has high fighting IQ and that puzzle remains to be solved by his opponent for years. People may call it one dimensional but it is very effective not only because of the style but because of what type of a fighter Ben Askren is. There is but very few loophole to his game and that when he takes you down there is little to no chance of you to get out of that mess. His years of hardwork building a name for himself will finally be paid off.

Observing the two fighters throughout their careers I can see Ben Askren impose his will over Robbie Lawler it would not be an easy fight as anything can happen especially with the striking caliber that Lawler has. The most likely scenario though is that Ben Askren will eventually get Robbie Lawler down, wear him out after 3 rounds, and then get a submission win.
