With less than two weeks left for UFC 228, the one that had the return of Yair "the Panther" Rodriguez, after his controversial resignation-dismissal, would return to fight against the Russian Zabit Magomedsharipov, who has had impressive victories in his last fights. The Mexican suffered an injury so he discarded the event, which endangered the realization of this fight.
Originally it was rumored that John "Hands of Stone" Lineker could have been the replacement of "El Pantera" Rodriguez, however, promotion promoter Sean Shelby qualified "Hands of Stone" as too small for featherweight and opted for Brandon "Killer B" Davis, who accepted the challenge with little preparation time.
Davis (9-4), who comes to lose in May of this year at UFC Chile before Enrique "el Fuerte" Barzola, made his way in UFC after a successful debut in the Contender Series by Dana White, but is only 1 -2 since he made his debut in the promotion earlier this year. Brandon Davis' other loss was by unanimous decision against Kyle Bochniak at UFC 220.
As for Magomedsharipov (15-1), he seems to be unstoppable based on his three visits to the Octagon. That includes last April's war against Kyle Bochniak at UFC 223 in Brooklyn, his eleventh consecutive victory.
It is a great opportunity for Brandon Davis, who after his defeats, has the opportunity to be on the main card of UFC 228 to be held on September 8, against a tremendous rival like Magomedsharipov. Hopefully, take the opportunity and make a great fight.
