Amanda Nunes recorded an easy victory over Irene Aldana, then announced that she was retiring from MMA.

The main event of UFC 289, which took place in Vancouver, Canada offered us a bantamweight title match against Aldana. The fight went in 5 rounds, but Irene did nothing memorable. Nunes dominated both in posture and on the ground. She quickly brought Aldana down to the ground and dealt her heavy blows. The only thing Aldana did was score a serious knee in the fourth round. This passivity of Irene bored the fans but proved to be of benefit to Amanda because the judge's decision was (50–44, 50–44, 50–43).

The most interesting part appeared during the interview when Nunes put the two belts in the middle of the octagon and took off her gloves, thus announcing the end of her career. Amanda retired with a record of 23-5 in MMA and in a series of two consecutive wins, she is the champion in the following 2 categories: Women's Featherweight Champion and two-time UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion.

Nunes holds very impressive records in the UFC and it is difficult for another woman to surpass her.
