Miesha Theresa Tate was born on August 18, 1986.  She is an American mixed martial artist who competed in the Ultimate Fighting Championship or the UFC.  She is also a former UFC Women's Champion.

In her earlier years, while attending Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma, Washington, Tate became a wrestler and won a state championship during her senior year.  She later began her professional mixed martial arts career (MMA for short) in 2007.

Tate has also taken the time to model for multiple websites.  She has posed for 'ESPN The Magazine' and 'Fitness Gurls.'

Tate's final victory in MMA came on March 5, 2016, when she won the UFC Women's Championship after beating Holly Holm.  However, on July 9, 2016, she lost the UFC title to fellow fighter Amanda Nunes.   Finally, she announced her retirement from MMA after a loss by decision to Raquel Pennington in November of 2016.

Since her retirement, Tate has signed a contract with Fox Sports as a UFC commentator.
