UFC superstar Connor McGregor (30, Ireland) will return to Octagon after ending a long journey.

UFC said on its official website on Wednesday that McGregor will return to the sport through a mainstream event in UFC 229 held in Las Vegas on Oct. 7.

McGregor's return match is against Habib, the current lightweight champion, and Madamedov (aged 30, Russia).

The competition between McGregor and UFC lightweight star Tamarge, who became the first UFC fighter to conquer two weight classes at the same time, took place.

McGregor beat Eddie Albares in November 2016 to become the lightweight champion, and has not won the Octagon title for a year and nine months. In August last year, he played a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather Jr., an unbeaten boxer, and lost to TKO in the 10th round.

Tamargo Medoff won the UFC lightweight champion belt over Al Ayenta in April. With 26 consecutive wins in martial arts, including 10 consecutive UFC fighters, he became a powerhouse fighter.
