Obviously, his name is John Kavanagh :D I just thought this title could attract more eyes :D It's simply a red panty night when you mention Conor's name....

MMA Episode #44 - John Kavanagh & George Lockhart

After devastating and one-sided beating Khabib gave Conor on Saturday, 2 members of his team stopped by in Joe's studio to discuss not only the night but also months before. It was suuperinteresting to listen to both of them, dropping knowledge left and right.

Here are points I've found interesting from Coach Kavanagh:

  • If the rematch happens, the camp would be structured more offensive and with win approach rather than not to lose approach
  • The plan was actually opposite to what people believed. They hoped to drag Khabib into later rounds where he'd be more fatigued
  • Despite saying that "Conor's always in the gym, this is not a problem" before the fight, now he admitted that ring rust was real and something in Conor's game was off.
  • When new sparring partners for Conor come, he tells them 2 things - "be ready, this is kinda fight and also don't mind if he talks to you, he just needs it, it's not personal."
  • Ido Portal method is a nice break from repetitivness of the camp
  • When Conor was going into ring with Paullie, Kavanagh was talking to Owen Roddy and they both had no idea what's gonna happen. At that point, Conor was schooling amateur boxers back in Ireland, but they had no idea what will happen with Paullie and were totally ready to accept that Conor won't land a shot on Paullie and they were over their heads.
  • There's a 3 piece series coming out on the Netflix about the Conor vs. Paullie sparring which actually was a fight. The full footage will be probably shown.

Here are points I've found interesting from George Lockhart:

  • He hopes that by the end of the 2019, he'll be the nutritionist for the whole UFC roster and he believes noone else knows what they actually do
  • He's 100% sure he could get Frankie Edgar to 125 lbs!
  • Body can't be in anabolic and catabolic state at the same time (obviously). Therefore it's just not possible to burn fat and build muscle at the same time. If you gain 5lbs muscle and 0.5lbs fat, your body fat percentage goes down, but you're not losing fat!

Aaaand that's it! There was for sure much more information, so don't think twice and head to the episode! If you don't have enough time, these points should do ;) Thx for reading!
