...Well, the co-main and main event!
Whittaker vs Gastelum
Right now, with MMA being one of the most popular sports in the world, stars are continually being born! Even with all the brash and crazy nature of the pre fight shit talking, to sell fights and gain excitement, these two men sit far outside of that realm. They're just here to compete, and to be at their best!
Rob and Kelvin were both coaches on the most recent Ultimate Fighter series, and seemed to get along well. No mental warfare needed from ether side and it's great to see how these two can still be huge names, and stars of the sport without the other stuff!
I think these two match up well stylistically; both are similar fighters in a way. Kelvin might have the all out power advantage, but Robs conditioning is one of the best.
I think Rob is going to be too much for Kelvin. After just having two Wars with Romero, he is ready to push the pace. He is also fighting in front of a home crowd to pump him up even more!
We did see Rob get seriously rocked against Yoel, but he recovered very well.
Will Kelvin have the power to put Rob to sleep?
Will Rob grind out Kelvin, test his gas tank and then get a finish late in the fight?
My prediction
I think that Rob is going to be too much for Kelvin, and he will finish him round 4!
The Last Style Bender vs The Spider
Youth vs Experience. Rising star vs Legend. Hype vs GOAT.
Call it what you will, but we have two of the most decorated strikers in the world going at it, and I can't wait.
At first, I wasn't digging this fight, I didn't like it. But now I love it. I am a massive Style Bender fan but Anderson is the GOAT in my eyes. He really was invincible! You know what I mean...
So, Anderson is 43 now, and I didn't expect him to still be competing now, but he is, and I support him. Many would say he is facing a younger, sharper and modernised version of himself. Of course Israel is a huge Silva fan, you don't have to hear him say it, just watch him fight!
We have a straight up kickboxing/Muay Thai fight on our hands ladies and gents. I have to go with Silva for the win. I just can't count out the spider! I do feel the Style Bender is the 'better' of the two, and really is on the rise. He is amazing, and that's why I didn't want him fighting Anderson at first. But wow we have a fight on our hands!
Rumour is the winner will get a title shot... I would love to see Rob vs Israel, but to see Anderson win the belt back again would be crazy!
I'm going with Silva for the win in round 2! I always have to back the GOAT!
I will add that I don't think I've seen a striker like Adesanya since Silva era, and even MVP over in Bellator (who I wish was more active).
The rest of the card is good, but these are the two fights I am really pumped for!
