What a night of fights! Big stoppages, controversial stoppages and lots to talk about!
Main Event - Jones vs Smith - Jones Remains the Champ!
As many of us expected, Jones defeats Smith! 5 round fight where Jones shut down Smith and look as dominant as usual. Jones wasn't overly impressed with his performance, but he still looked solid! We expect so much from Jones, it is easy to be disappointed with him going the distance against Smith - On the other hand, let's show some respect for Smith, not only for being a super durable and tough LHW, but also for living up to his name Lionheart as he did have a chance to win the belt through a viable DQ for Jones.
What did you think of the controversial shots Jones landed? First a kick landed to a downed Anthony Smith, ref lets the action continue, and then a big illegal knee. Herb Dean stops the action and Smith understands he could claim he is unable to continue, meaning he wins the fight! Respect to Smith, he said he can continue to fight and Jones gets 2 point deduction. Respect to both fighters here! Jones looked dominant.

Co-Main Event - Woodley vs Usman - AND NEW! AFRICAN CHAMP!
WOW! Usman dominates Tyron Woodley! Absolutely dominates, out strikes, out wrestles, out works, and just controls the fight, the pace, and wins a very dominant fight against one of the best ever.
I did not see this coming! I was one who thought Woodley would be much too much, but Kamaru Usman becomes the first African champ of all time! Nigeria stand up! The Nightmare does it!
Dana White has stated Colby Covington will have the next title shot!

Robbie Lawler vs Ben Askren - Controversial Debut
OH my goodness... this fight had everything. Maybe not everything we wanted, but it had it all!
Lawler looking amazing from the off, just as I thought he would, he stuffed takedowns and starts putting the beating on Ben! I mean BEATING! Power shots landing flush, huge elbow cutting Ben open... it looks as if it is over! Robbie then SLAMS Ben on his head! I thought it was over again!
Huge respect to Askren, he came back and managed to take control of the wrestling and had a choke working and he is squeezing tight. Robbie's hand does go limp, the commentators, spectators, and referee Herb Dean all think Robbie was out. As Herb stops the fight, Robbie pops up immediately and is very upset... a sight none of us wants to see!
I feel so bad for Robbie. He was really putting the beating on Ben and who knows what would have happened. Very exciting fight and sad to see it finish this way. Herb Dean is also one of the best referees and it was a justified mistake. These things happen.

Tecia Torres vs Weili Zhang - Chinese star!
A good technical fight, where Zhang just looked like the better fighter overall. Tecia is one tough fighter and never gives up. It was close at times and Tecia is still a top competitor despite her 3 fight loosing streak. I think Weili Zhang is the top of the food chain and deserves a title fight next.

Cody Garbrandt vs Pedro Munhoz - FOTN
Well... holy s**t this was one hell of a crazy fight! What else can I say! Pedro came out on top! Cody looked big in there and started looking like the Cody we remember. Looking slick, quick and ready to rip!
Pedro looked fast, as did Cody, who stared landing! Cody looking good, he then get caught and rocked by Pedro! Then.... ALL HELL BRAKES LOOSE! Cody just bites down on his mouthpiece and starts SWINGING for the fences! I mean SWINGING! This was insane and I need to watch the last minute again as it was wild! Cody just loading up on every shot! Seriously loading up! Pedro is hurt! Pedro comes back! Cody goes down and Pedro finishes! What a crazy fight!
I don't quite know why Cody decided to go that crazy but hey respect! He took a gamble!
Cody has had 3 KO losses in his last 3 fights.

Johnny Walker gets another round 1 KO! Wow! Jones vs Walker next? It could be! Well... probably not just yet but who knows! Could Jon move to heavyweight next? Anyway... What a start this man is having to his UFC career! This flying knee was beautiful! His style and persona is awesome - we may have a future champ here! He needs a big test next, let's wait and see! (Probably Jones vs Santos next? or do you want Walker?)
Zabit wins decision over Stephens! A great, technical fight, Zabit showing some real skill as he was evading Stephens' huge right hand. Close fight at times, but Zabit gets the W.
The Nightmare is still here! Legend Diego Sanchez stops young fighter Micky Gall. Sanchez is the most intense fighter in the UFC, a true vet, and he showed it! Just getting stared at by Diego has to be off putting. Micky came out swinging, trying to put Diego away early! He uses all of his gas and Diego put a brutal beating on him! What a fight, and what a night for The Nightmare!
