The organizers are trying to add 20 races on the 2019 calendar to fill the Finnish circuit gap, KymiRing, which is unlikely to be ready to hold MotoGP.

Following the return of Mexico to the Formula 1 title in 2015, the head of the FIM delegation, Franco Uncini, made a visit to the city center track in early 2017. The goal is to assess suitability as the host of the Grand Prix.

Regarding MotoGP races in Mexico, it was even discussed at the Safety Commission meeting in Brno on Friday (3/8), and the drivers were reportedly enthusiastic while providing a number of specific safety modifications.

MotoGP has not released the 2019 calendar, but all circuits this season are expected to remain the same, with Thailand joining the 19th race schedule.

Like KymiRing in Finland, other candidates to hold MotoGP including Kazakhstan - build a new track - and the United Arab Emirates as part of a possible plan to race in the middle of the city.
