German Grand Prix champion Sebastian Vettel won the 13th Grand Prix of the Formula One World Championship on Sunday, beating the world champion of Mercedes-Benz, Lewis Hamilton.

Vettel, the second at the start, was able to overtake Hamilton in the straight section of the Spa-Francorchamps during the first lap, according to "AFP".

The first lap at the start of the event was a major accident caused by Renault's German driver, Nico Hulkenberg, resulting in the departure of McLaren drivers Fernando Alonso and Sauber Charles Leclair of Monaco.

Vettel gave Ferrari its first win in Belgium since 2009, while Red Bull's Dutch driver Max Verstappen finished third.
