MotoGP 2018 has just completed the Australian series. Here are the drivers' standings ahead of the remaining two races this season.
In the race held at the Phillip Island circuit on Sunday (10/28/2018) noon CST, Movistar Yamaha rider, Maverick Vinales, managed to appear as a winner after mastering the leading position from the eighth lap.
Successfully finished second was Suzuki Ecstar rider Andrea Iannone, who beat his compatriot from Ducati, Andrea Dovizioso, who had to settle for third place. Sequentially in the top five positions are Alvaro Bautista and Alex Rins. World champion Marc Marquez finished the race faster on the seventh lap after his motorbike had a problem due to being hit by Johann Zarco.
Indeed it did not affect Marquez's position in the standings, but the results of the 17th series race this season had a major impact on the competition towards the runner-up position at the end of the season. Because Dovizioso who finished third could be happy because of his closest competitor, Valentino Rossi, only finished sixth.
As a result, Dovizioso who got an additional 16 points is now firmly in second place with 210 points, 15 points ahead of Rossi in third place with 195 points. With two races remaining, Dovizioso at least benefits even though he has to work hard in Malaysia next week.
Meanwhile, Vinales with the first win of the season kept his chances of finishing second even though it was fairly heavy. Vinales with 180 points is in fourth place.
