On Sunday, October 30th, 1955, the 1955 NASCAR Cup Series season concluded with Tim Flock defeating Buck Baker by 1,508 points to win the seventh championship in Cup Series history. It was the second (and final) Cup Series championship for Flock. These are the top five points finishers for the season.

5. #92 Herb Thomas (-4410 points)

Thomas claimed the fifth spot with three victories, 14 top-fives and 15 top-10s in 23 starts as he took an average finish of 6.6. Thomas also led the most laps in one race that season.

4. #44 Bob Welborn (-4136)

Welborn took fourth as he went winless, but scored 12 top-fives and 25 top-10s in 32 races for an average finish of 8.8.

3. #42 Lee Petty (-2402)

Petty grabbed the third spot as he claimed six victories, 20 top-fives and 30 top-10s with an average finish of 8.3, as well as leading the most laps in four races.

2. #87 Buck Baker (-1508)

Baker got second with three wins, 24 top-fives and 34 top-10s to get an average finish of 6.7, leading the most laps in four races.

1. #300 Tim Flock

Flock ran away with the championship with 18 victories, 32 top-fives and 33 top-10s for an average finish of 4.6 on the season. Flock also took the most laps led in 18 races as well.
