Despite the number 34 winning the inaugural Cup Series race in 1949, it had not had a whole lot of success in terms of wins over the course of history with just four total, two of which coming in the past four years. However Scott, the first African-American NASCAR driver to race full-time, was able to pull out one win, 20 top fives and 143 top 10's in his self-owned 34 car with 469 starts from 1961-73.
