Top 5 NASCAR Cup Series Drivers From Kansas
By Zane Miller As of the 2021 racing season, there have been a total of nine drivers in the Cup Series with their hometown listed in Kansas. So far, drivers representing the Sunflower State have taken a total of 11 victories, 87 top-fives and 261 top-10s in 694 starts. 5. Jim Roper (Active 1949) Despite having a very brief career with only two starts, I had no choice but to put him on here as Roper won the first-ever NASCAR Cup Series race on June 19th, 1949. Roper is also the only Kansas native other than Clint Bowyer to win a Cup race. 4. Bill Harrison (Active 1949-55) Harrison earned four top-10s during his nine-start Cup Series career, taking a best points finish of 40th in 1953, finishing sixth in all three races that he started in that season. 3. Terry Bivins (Active 1975-77) Bivins claimed one top-five and eight top-10s in 28 starts, with most of his races coming in the 1976 season where he earned his best points finish of 21st. 2. Bruce Hill (Active 1974-81) Hill scored three top-fives and 21 top-10s during his 100 starts at the Cup Series level, with his best points finish of 16th coming in 1975. 1. Clint Bowyer (Active 2005-20) Bowyer claimed 10 wins, 82 top-fives and 226 top-10s in 541 starts, taking a best points finish of second place in the 2012 season.
