One of the main drivers of the Venezuelan national team was the first Venezuelan player to reach the NBA.

Signed by the Houston Rockets in 1992, he had previously played for Real Madrid in Spain in the 1990-91 season.

He is the first Latin American to win the first NBA 2 title in a row with the Houston Rockets in the 1994 - 1995 seasons.

With the Venezuelan national team, he won the South American championship defeating Brazil in 1991.

The South American title earned him the qualification for the Venezuelan national team to the 1992 Pre-Olympic tournament in Portland (USA), where one of his best collective performances in the tournament took him to face in the final the authentic Dream Team of the United States team, led by Michael Jordan and where Carl Herrera for Venezuela was one of the most outstanding players.

I think those 90's where Carl was successful with his Rockets team are the golden years of NBA basketball.

On March 24, 2017 Carl Herrera was selected and honored as one of the 50 legends of the Houston Rockets.

It should be noted that Carl Herrera continues to be active in leading and managing teams in professional basketball in Venezuela.
