Now that the trade deadline is fast approaching, crucial decisions are to be made. So we come to the Grizzlies team as they are one of the teams out there who has some nice trade pieces to bargain.
It was heard from the vine that Grizzlies team are now open to hear the offers coming from either Gasol or Conley. For me, with these two players who started great on this team, is like parting to a dear friend, but hey, we got to accept that it has to come to an end, right? The question is, if you are the other team who would you be interested to get? And if you are the grizzlies who would you rather get out of your team at this time?
Both of them has fat contracts left but are still very efficient when they are playing this season. Here is a snippet of their current season performances:
Points: Conley 19.8; Gasol 15.3
Field Goal Percentage: Conley 42.2; Gasol 43.4
3-Point Percentage: Conley 35.4; Gasol 35.3
Rebounds: Conley 3.3; Gasol 8.5
Assists: Conley 6.1; Gasol 4.7
Player efficiency rating: Conley 20.0; Gasol 17.1
Both of these numbers are still respectable with their respective player positions. Conley though is younger at 31 years of age while Gasol is about to be 34 years old in a few days.
To me, if I am Grizzlies, I would rather part with Gasol as I can still build a future contender team with Conley as the team's core. And if I am a team who is already a title contender, I would rather receive Marc Gasol, his efficiency/playoff experience both as a center and forward position would come in handy. He is a rarity in talent and experience. He would be a stellar both in defense and crucial plays which are both priceless come playoffs' crucial moments.
