Let me start by saying that I understand the greatness of LeBron on the basketball court. We've seen the mentality of LeBron when he fires on all cylinders, and we've seen him singlehandedly dismantle the greatest basketball team of this era (in the Warriors, if you didn't know)!
LeBron was never the achiever Jordan was in terms of sheer winning ability, but I have started to change my tune.
It is more than the athlete that shapes the man, and I had never heard of Michael Jordan leaving a good tip let alone build a school for underprivileged children.
LeBron is changing the size and scope of his legacy by not only being the world's greatest basketball player, but by being one of the most giving and caring leaders this world has ever known!
To understand the intention behind LeBron's actions, one must also know his Akron, Ohio roots and how he earned everything he had in life. The road LeBron paved has led here, and this will be the cornerstone of his career... and of his life.

Along with helping the children who seek education, LeBron has not forgotten about the parents either. Within the program, parents and guardians of children partaking will be able to achieve a GED and help with job placement themselves!
In addition to supplying uniforms, transport, and meals to ease parents with those strains, the 'I Promise' program is intent on [re]building families to provide employement and education for those who may have never had that opportunity before.
Last but absolutely not least, any child that graduates from the 'I Promise' program will have guaranteed tuition for their tenure at the University of Akron.
LeBron has not only changed the game with this program, he is literally changing the world. The complexion of the public system will change radically with these type of measures in the next few years, and LeBron is setting an example for the rest of the country (and world) with this first step he has taken.
