Anyone who follows sports at all knows the name, Lebron James. Lebron seems to find himself in the media all the time. Whether it is his dominating play on the court or his big decisions about where he is going to play in the upcoming season, we are hearing about him almost daily. This year has been no exception as he was a free agent in the offseason and there was an incredible amount of debate about where he would end up this year. In the end, he chose to go to Los Angeles and play for the Lakers as many predicted he might do. The Lakers have not gotten off to the start you might have thought they would with the Leagues biggest star now on the roster. I think I even heard one analyst say that it was a horrible start. Could it be that Lebron has brought some horror to Los Angeles? It turns out that he has horror on the brain.
No stranger to being in the spotlight, James has been making a move to transfer his success on the hardwood to make a splash in Hollywood. Back in September, Lebron was connected to the announcement of a sequel to the popular Warner Brothers movie Space Jam starring Micheal Jordan. Lebron James will be the face of the Space Jam 2 movie as he attempts to recreate the magic of the first movie. His appearance in the Space Jam sequel makes perfect sense and I am sure that moviegoers and basketball fans alike will line up at the box office to see the film. Will he be as good as Jordan was? That remains to be seen but either way, the movie will make money.
This is just part of Lebon's attempt to get his name in lights on the Hollywood stage. His desire to take Hollywood by storm doesn't stop with becoming an actor. James has his eyes set on getting into the production side of the business as well. He has some big plans and his money and star power have people in the industry listening. It shouldn't be a secret that Lebron James is a huge horror movie buff. He has shared this passion for horror movies on several occasions during interviews and this actually was represented in a pair of Lebron James endorsed Nike shoes released in 2015 with the Friday the 13th theme.
This passion for horror is making a new turn as Lebron James is spearheading a box office reboot fo the famous Friday the 13th franchise. He has already been involved in the production of some shows and movies with his production company Signal Hill. The franchise was initially going to be rebooted last year but the project was dropped by Paramount pictures who owned the rights to the story and characters at the time. Since then, the rights have been transferred back to the Original creator and writer, Victor Miller, of the Jason movies and the James group is hoping to push for the release of a new installment of the series with Miller at the lead.
The group including Lebron is in the initial stages of getting this project off the ground but there appears to be some traction to the idea. Nothing is set in stone yet but it appears very likely that this could actually happen. Having James backing the project will certainly increase the opportunity for other backers and these horror flicks really don't take a lot of financial backing to get made. Horror movies are typically low budget projects. This means that Lebron James and his financial empire are more than capable of backing such an undertaking. The recent release of the new Halloween movie has been a huge success so far and the Miceal Myers franchise is raking in the cash.
As the NBA season gets ramped up, it seems that Lebron James's plate is filling fast. The sky is the limit when it comes to the Lebron James franchise and if he has it his way he will be taking Jason from the dead yet again. The Lebron James empire is set to grow even more and we could soon be seeing billboards with Lebron and Jason slashing their way to the top. Maybe James can convince Jason to suit up for the Lakers he can help fix the nightmare of a start the team is off to.
