It seems like Luka Doncic is helping the Dallas Mavericks get back to relevance again after they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 140-136 on Saturday night. Luka Doncic looks like the star in the making people projected him to be. Maybe Dirk Nowitzki can now pass the torch to him and be the main guy in Dallas.

Luka puts on a show with his great moves and fancy cross overs. He was also superb in finding his open team mates. And he's also not afraid of the big moments. He took responsibility on the final minutes of the game and score needed baskets. on the other hand, DeAndre Jordan provided the needed energy for the game. Every dunk from DeAndre hyped the fans and they roared to cheer the Mavs. I haven't seen American Airlines Center this loud in a long time. I can see the hope in their faces as the new look Mavericks will try to make a playoff run this season.

It was a close game up to the final quarter. They are going back and forth and basket after basket against each other. Luka puts some tough shots posting up Derrick Rose in the fourth quarter to keep the lead in their hands. Karl-Anthony Towns hits a fadeaway three in the corner to get them back to the game. Derrick Rose have some great outing there and scoring a game tying layup in transition from his own steal in the dying seconds of the game. But Dennis Smith Jr. saves the day making a tough jumper plus a foul to seal the win.

Jordan also shot well from the field and missed only 2 of his 10 shot attempts. Wesley Matthews added 19 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. He also made four three-pointers.

Meanwhile, Dennis Smith Jr. finished the game with 19 points, 3 rebounds and 6 assists including the game winning shot. Dwight Powell also played great and added 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block shooting 85.7 percent from the field while JJ Barea had a double-double of 12 points, 1 rebound and 11 assists.

For Minnesota, Karl-Anthony Towns finally stepped up as he scores 31 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 block shooting 56.3 percent from the field with 4 three-pointers made. Andrew Wiggins silently drops 19 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Jeff Teague added 22 points, 2 rebounds, 9 assists and 1 steal.

Derrick Rose turned back the clock and explodes with 28 big points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 block. He shot 54.2 percent from the field and made 2 three-pointers. Jimmy Butler did not play in this game.
