What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about the Brooklyn Nets and the moves that they should do in the Off-season. Let's do this!
I can say that the Brooklyn Nets achieved great things this season as they managed to get one of those playoffs spots and they do it unexpectedly. Nobody thought that this Brooklyn Nets team will go anywhere this season but they prove us all wrong. D'Angelo Russell, their lone all-star brought them to the position where the team can start to become contenders again. Not only contenders but a real threat in the Eastern Conference. All they have to do is make big moves in the summer and I will tell you some of the best moves they can do.
D'Angelo Russell's Home is Brooklyn!
Of course, their first priority is to re-sign the man that brought them to the position where they are right now. Yes, they have to start with re-signing D'Angelo Russell. He already proved that he's a max player and can lead a team to the big stage. He also proved that he can take responsibility and shine in the big moments. He's definitely an underrated clutch shooter in my opinion. He's too young, 22 years old, and the Nets should grab this opportunity to get a young top point guard and secure him with a max deal.
According to reports, he's expecting 27 million dollars a year and the Nets should go for that. He's averaging 21 points and 7 assists shooting 43 percent from the field and 36 percent from deep. He found his new home in Brooklyn where he shines the brightest and no regrets that he was traded by the Lakers.
Try to sign a Top Superstar
Kevin Durant? Kyrie Irving? Kawhi Leonard? who's it going to be? The Nets have a chance to get one of those top players. They can shock the world and sign one of them. Kyrie Irving according to rumors might choose the Nets over the Knicks but who knows? Nobody knows but the Nets should give it a try. Brooklyn have a very good roster, they have good young guys like Jarrett Allen, a blooming shooter in Joe Harris and enough role players like LeVert to help a star. Getting only one of these superstars can make them an immediate threat to the East.
Julius Randle can help D'Lo
Like D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle is also one of the young players that the Lakers let go. L.A. let Randle walk away without getting any in exchange and now they must be regretting it as Randle shows that he can be a star in this league. He showed terrific basketball for the Pelicans dominating in both ends of the floor. Randle is a beast, he is strong and a great hustler. The Nets can also use him to pair with Russell in the pick en roll. And if the Nets get Randle, it can also help them attract superstars to join them.
Randle averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds shooting 52 percent playing most of the season off the bench. Even if the Nets failed to acquire a star in free agency, a lineup led by Russell and Randle can give a lot of problems to the opponents and that duo have a lot of potentials to be a problem in the East.
