What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will have a short recap of the match between the Golden State Warriors VS Houston Rockets in Game 5 of their best of 7 playoff series for the Semi-finals. Let's start!

On Wednesday night, the Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets, 104-99 and now have a 3-2 series lead and only one win away from the Western Conference Finals. They will have the chance to finish the series off in Houston in Game 6.

Game Recap

It was a sad night for the Warriors as they lost Kevin Durant with an injury late in the game. It looks like an Achilles injury after an awkward landing after a jump shot but it was announced as a right calf strain only. It will take 8-10 days before it heals if it is a grade 1 calf strain but if it's a grade 2 calf strain, Durant will miss 4-6 weeks which will be determined after the MRI exam on Thursday. Too bad timing for the Warriors and it will be a challenge for Golden States' other superstars to finish off the Rockets without their best player, Kevin Durant who's averaging 35.4 points (most in the NBA) in the postseason.

The Warriors lead by as many as 20 points but the Rockets keeps coming back cutting the deficit due to missed open shots by the Warriors. Draymond Green had 8 assists in the first period, compared to Houston's 2 assists. Eric Gordon struggled and did not score in the first half and he was 0 for 8 before he hits a three midway the third quarter. Houston cuts the deficit to 4 when Harden buried a three and then decreased it to only 1 point after Shumpert converted another three. Warriors end up scoring only 15 points in the third and committed 6 turnovers. The third ended tied at 72.

Steph Curry struggled again shooting 9 for 23 from the field including 3 for 11 from the three-point territory but Klay Thompson pumps their offense with his 27 points with 5 threes including a layup that puts the game out of reach with less than a minute left in the game.

My Thoughts

The Warriors finished strong despite losing Kevin Durant and even James Harden scored 31 points shooting 10 for 16 with 8 assists. They've been there many times and they know how to do that. They know how to close out games in the postseason and they know how to play even without KD. They already won a championship without KD and it's not new to them. They just have to execute their game, their program and play Golden State basketball. I know Curry and Thompson can play better without KD. They can get enough touches now that KD is sidelined. I think they're still fine and they can still beat the Rockets in Game 6. Let's see how the Rockets respond.

Stats

Klay Thompson - 27 pts, 4 reb
Stephen Curry - 25 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast
Draymond Green - 8 pts, 12 reb, 11 ast
James Harden - 31 pts, 4 reb, 8 ast
Chris Paul - 11 pts, 6 reb, 6 ast
Eric Gordon - 19 pts, 2 reb
