What's up basketball fans! I am here again @dwin0603 to give you another exciting basketball discussion for another episode of NBA Talk, and today we will talk about Kawhi Leonard and the reason why he parted ways with the San Antonio Spurs. Let's start!
There is no clear answer on why Kawhi Leonard demanded a trade from the San Antonio Spurs. One of the biggest questions in the NBA is why does Spurs' franchise player want out of San Antonio and it's still unsolved. Spurs is one of the most decent franchises in the league and we cannot say that the Spurs mistreated Kawhi or handled him wrong when he got the injury from Zaza Pachulia. Now, we have the answer and it's all thanks to Kawhi's advisor, Dennis Robertson who explained in an interview by Yahoo Sports about all the Kawhi drama in San Antonio.
Here is what he said:
The Spurs did a very bad job in handling Kawhi's injury. They did not believe that he was in real pain and that ruined Kawhi's trust to the franchise as well. The team did not believe in him and that causes him to also not believe in the team so he decided to move on. You don't do that to your star player. Not all the times the doctors are right because the players themselves know if they are capable to play or not. And Leonard felt that the Spurs thinks that he is faking the injury even if it truly hurts and he couldn't endure the pain. Now, Leonard is back in the NBA Finals but not with the Spurs, he is now leading the Toronto Raptors and is in a good position right now leading 1-0 in the Finals.
