After being loyal to the Charlotte Hornets for many years, seems like Kemba Walker have a change of heart now and will try to go elsewhere. At this point in his career, this is the best chance for him to choose his future and play for a contender instead of being stocked in a mediocre team. Walker is an all-star, just entered his prime, and one of the best free agents available in the market this year. Several franchises are after the all-star guard and one of the front-runners are the Boston Celtics. According to recent reports, the Boston Celtics suddenly became Walker’s most realistic destination. Before the season ended, Walkers said that his priority is to stay in Charlotte but things seem to be different right now.
According to Stephen A. Smith of ESPN, Kemba Walkers was offered a new contract of 5-year $160 million by the Charlotte Hornets. It was a little shy of the max-contract. Walker said earlier that he is willing to take a pay cut to stay in Charlotte but it looks like that he decided to take a different path after the Hornets did not offer him the max.
If the Boston Celtics get Kemba Walker, it will be a great start in rebuilding their ruined roster. Things will start to look better for them if they land Walker. He can replace Kyrie Irving’s position and can even be a better replacement. They have almost the same kind of playing style. Walker can surely give what Kyrie Irving provide for the Celtics. And it will surely be a fresh start for the all-star guard being in a contending team who are always in the playoffs every year. His talents will not be wasted with the Celtics and he would be very happy competing for a championship.
